Ma'at is not only a Goddess, but a concept of truth, balance and ethics.  In the Egyptian Book of the Dead, one's heart against the feather of Ma'at.  If your heart is light, you enter the Afterlife.  If your heart is heavier than her feather, you're given to the soul eaters.
